The Void Project Podcast

Who are you?

Kira Higgs

What is your project?

A podcast series with ten episodes

Background

This is my podcasting debut. The show was conceived in the podcasting workshop last fall. I took the course with one goal: to develop skills so I could act quickly, and confidently, if and when a big idea comes to me for an ongoing podcast. To learn, I needed to make it real.

Description

I just spent much of 2022 paring down. It raised insights about our stuff and how what we keep in our midst might enhance or detract from our lives.

So, I interviewed people who lightened their own load, as well as professionals who help others. What was discovered when things were cleared away? In particular, what did they learn about themselves and their values?

I named the series, The Void Project.

Samples: If you spend a few minutes with episode #1 (my niece) and episode #9 (the brilliant @susanwalter), you may notice improvements in sound quality. After the early recordings I got I good mic, and kept learning editing techniques and nuances as I went.

Surprises: The project completed on time! I committed to post on the 10th, 20th, and 30th of each month and conclude on June 30 with episode #10. (I decided, however, to release a special bonus episode on an adjacent topic.)

I sent the final recording in advance to my guests. I was tickled by how much they liked how it came across – even guests who don’t like hearing their own voice.

It was always a blast to bring in the music track and decide how to place it.

Ultimately, it feels great to have created something that took time, patience, creativity, stamina, and a beginner’s mind.

See above. I rolled some lighthearted observations into a newsletter/blog.

Light Touch Marketing: Producing mattered more than promoting. I did little of the latter. Just soundbites on LinkedIn (here’s an example 3), and a few FB shares in the beginning. Yeah, gotta get back to that.

Where can we find your work?
