Escape is a 25,000 word novella that I have drafted during Brainstorm Road as a free gift for my email subscribers, and focuses on a side quest mentioned in Awake, my sleeping beauty fairy tale retelling, published at the beginning of Brainstorm Road. The story centres around Louvret, a young wolf shifter. He’s sent on a quest to rescue a faerie from the Mad Prince of Kehl, only to discover that his pack might be in danger. And as the runt of the pack, he just might be the only one who can help.

Escape: A Rose World Tale Prequel Novella
A runt wolf shifter is sent on a mission to save a faerie child, but a greater threat looms.
Because of Louvret’s size and position in the family pack, his father usually sends him to keep the peace with the prey shifter groups. He dreams of leading his pack, but instead is sent on a mission to save a faerie from the Mad Prince of Kehl.
Using his connections with the shifter packs, he lines the iron armour with wool to prevent it from making him sick, and infiltrates their army, only to find the faerie injured inside. His plan won’t work and he must help her escape.
To get her to safety, Louvret must fight against assassins, dragons, headless hunters, and his own ego.
But there is another force at work, threatening the shifter packs, and his quest might be the only way to save them.
Escape is a standalone novella prequel to Awake in The Rose World, a series of intertwined fairy tale retellings.
